NEW! - "Canned Hermetic Motor Brochure"
Peerless Electric Canned Motors are custom designed to meet the requirements of the pump manufacturer. The end product is an integral package of pump and motor drive. The motor bearing and stator winding are lubricated and cooled by a portion of the liquid being pumped. This circulation is forced through the motor gap by the high discharge pressure of the impeller. Therefore, any wetted motor component must be compatible with the circulating liquid and the pump loadings, resulting in unique bearing designs and optional construction of non-corrosive materials.
Specific Advantages of the Typical Peerless Electric Canned Motor
Hermetically sealed enclosure of rotor area obtained without use of static O-rings, gaskets, or epoxy.
Fully welded joint construction. All welds gas tested to an allowable rate of .0005 ounces / year of standard air.
Squirrel cage rotor fully encased in stainless steel.
Back-withdrawal of stator and frame permits winding replacement without opening of pumping system.
Varnish and encapsulation of stator winding offer maximum protection against high humidity environment.
Special Inverter duty windings also available.
Bearings are lubricated by the solution being pumped to keep the rotor in perfect alignment.
PEERLESS ELECTRIC Canned "Hermetic" A.C. Motors not only assure leak-proof performance you want for your pump design.
Every PEERLESS ELECTRIC Canned A.C. Motor is custom-designed to meet your specific needs. Every performance characteristic you require can be achieved. Our designers have met many canned motor needs. Their combined experience and the advantage of having many existing designs on file assure you the right motor for the job within reasonable lead times and at a reasonable cost.
Our Canned A.C. Motors are customized from a 1 HP through 75 HP size range, in 1150, 1750, and 3500 rpm speed ranges. Although each is customized, these motors share some important advantages: hermetically sealed enclosure of rotor area obtained without use of static O-ring or gasket seals; fully welded joint construction; squirrel cage rotor fully encased in stainless steel; back-withdrawal of stator and frame (permits winding replacement without opening of pumping system); epoxy encapsulated stator winding (offers maximum protection against high humidity).

Pump Limitations 1. Mechanical Seal Leakage Causes: a. Loss of solution b. Loss of system pressure c. Excessive maintenance d. Corrosion limitations |
Canned Hermetic Motor Solution 1. Hermetically Sealed Pumps can completely guarantee against loss of solution. Standard units can handle liquid temperatures to 400ºF and system pressures to 600 PSI. |
| 2. Requires Excessive Floor Space | 2. Requires floor space approximately one-half that of a conventional pump |
| 3. Alignment of motor stuffing box and pump critical | 3. Self alignment automatic |
