Single Phase Repulsion Induction Motors
Repulsion-Induction Motors
Principles of Operation - A repulsion-induction motor is a single-phase motor with conventional stator winding and two windings in the rotor. At start, the repulsion winding is predominant, but as the motor speed increases, the squirrel cage winding becomes predominant. Transition from repulsion to induction is smooth since no switching device is employed. This motor is ideally suited for applications where low voltage is a problem or high starting torque's are required.
Thermal Overload Protection - Available in manual and automatic reset types. Protect windings from damage caused by overheating from overload or low voltage.
Large Ball Bearings - Provide smooth operation in any position and permit normal thrust loads.
Strong Rigid Frame - Made of cast iron or steel with feet. Stator windings are thoroughly insulated. Air gap held to close tolerance.
Rugged Adjustable Brushholder - Designed for easy reversal of rotation.
Protected Enclosures - Drip-proof construction is standard, but splashproof and totally enclosed are also available.
Mounting - Rigid foot mounting is standard, but special mountings are available.
Performance Engineered Armature - Designed for excellent commutation. Windings are thoroughly insulated and securely banded. Large undercut commutator of hard drawn copper bars is suitable for considerable turning and undercutting. Commutator segments are held under high pressure and locked securely in place. Large fan provides cool operation. Complete armature dynamically balanced.
| Advantages 1) No centrifugal switching or short circuiting
mechanism. |
